Dear YVCS families and friends,

There are a small number of historical events that have had a deep and lasting affect on the world. Non-Christians can always point to the building of the pyramids, or the Great Wall of China, or to the pure loss of humanity surrounding the Great Wars. All of these events have had a profound influence on the world and its history. Today, we are living in an age of vast change when you consider the explosion of the “information era”…cell phones that take video pictures, have internet access, and can make a dinner reservation for you almost instantaneously. In the eyes of the world, these material things are truly remarkable.

However, there is only one event in the history of man that has touched the lives of countless millions; an event that causes people to come to the very crux of their existence. “Religion” aside, the Resurrection of our Lord stands alone as the single-most important event ever known. And yet, it is not the event itself that is at the heart of the matter. The relational aspect of accepting Jesus as the Lord and Savior of your life has such meaning and is such a key component of our walk of faith. As we move into the Easter weekend, please consider the importance of the story. Jesus enters into Jerusalem at the beginning of a week unlike any other. By the end of this amazing week, He has been brought before the Roman governor, sentenced to die on a cross with two common thieves, and was buried in a borrowed tomb. The events surrounding all of this are common to our knowledge but still at the core of our belief. I have often wondered in my life what the pre-dawn hours of the first Easter morning must have been like. Mary of Magdala went to the tomb and discovered that the body was gone. After alerting the disciples of this, she chose to stay and was greeted by the risen Lord. What a feeling of awe and joy must have swept through her…the Lord has returned! Even that evening, as the disciples were huddles together for fear of being exposed, Jesus appears to them and in John 20:19 said, with all humility and grace, “Peace be with you.” Those four words have become the foundation of our faith and are just as valid and meaningful today as they ever have been. “Peace be with you”, in times of trouble…”Peace be with you”, in times of elation…”Peace be with you”, when fear or doubt creep into our lives.

My prayer during THIS Easter season is that all of us will come to a new and deeper understanding of how much the Lord loves us and wants the very best for us. His grace and peace extend far beyond our understanding. He is indeed the risen Lord…the King of Kings…The Wonderful Counselor… Almighty God…the Everlasting Father… the Prince of Peace!

May God’s love and grace touch you and your family in a very special way as we celebrate the gift of the risen Lord!

Dear YVCS families,

The spring is so near and I am so thankful for the Lord’s beauty as He reveals thewonder of His creation to us every day. The daffodils are in bloom, the hills are green, and the weather has been just splendid. We are so blessed to be living in this area and tobe able to enjoy the splendor that only our Creator can provide us! We are now in the middle of our early enrollment “window”. It is my hope andprayer that each of our families will prayerfully consider where they want their child tobe in the fall. In my mind, there is no better place than YVCS (of course I am a bit biased) as the love of Christ radiates throughout our community each and every day. Please let me know if you have any questions as I want to assure all of you that we are movingforward in some new and exciting directions. Our girls are currently playing volleyballagainst other schools, we are about to start an after school watercolor class, and Mrs.Kagawan has begun her Drama Workshop on Tuesday afternoons. Coupled with ourband and choir programs, I truly feel that we have an enrichment program that is hard to beat. I would like to officially welcome Dore Myers and Charles Francis to our schoolboard. We are now “fully staffed” and thankful for the members of our board as theyserve the Lord and our school in this capacity. Please be in prayer for them as they beginto chart a course for the 2013-14 school year. And lastly, Sunday, March 31 is Easter Sunday. How thankful I am that we servea risen Lord. As our greeting says each Easter season…”He is risen; He is risen indeed!”God bless you all as we celebrate and are thankful for the joy and peace that only theLord can offer to us!

By God’s grace,
