Physical Education

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” –I Corinthians 6:19-20

Our Heavenly Father has commanded us in His Word to honor our bodies because they are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Eating healthy and exercising daily are the keys to honoring our bodies. At YVCS we encourage our students to run and play during recess and PE (physical education). During PE we incorporate learning while having fun playing many games.

  • Kindergarteners learn how their bodies move and work. We teach them fundamentals like catching and throwing as they enjoy many games together.
  • First and second graders begin learning the basics of how to play sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball, and volleyball. We focus on the importance of following instructions.
  • Third, fourth, and fifth graders focus on good sportsmanship. We teach them that it is okay to be competitive but to what degree. We also teach them how to follow the rules of each sport in more detail.
  • Our middle school students continue to learn the importance of staying healthy. We do this through exercise, running the mile, and enjoying active through sports and games.

We hope our children will enjoy the experience of learning new games and sports throughout the school year.
